I think LinkedIn is a bit underpowered as a resume, but it is a better way to filter applicants...

Is LinkedIn a resume? I have had the (un)fortunate pleasure of seeing hundreds of resumes as a hiring manager, and the most basic information on a LinkedIn profile looks much better than most resumes I have seen.

And today, where any due diligence includes Googling a potential candidate, LinkedIn will show high on search results and by default contributes to their resume.

So where LinkedIn may not be specifically a resume by definition, it can be considered one and should not be discounted as not being one.
