Inside Webmaster tools, you’ll get a clear picture of what’s wrong with the site, HTML errors, pages not found, recommendations from Google for how to make the site better, and who’s linking to the non-profit’s site. Walk them through the various errors or if you have the technical chops, fix ’em yourself.
You might want to just install WordPress, but that’s for another time.
